Tobias, born in 604, was the primary heir to the Virstürm family dynasty. He was born into a wealthy family residing in the region of Vikstein which was formerly a Bromannikha vassal. His parents, Heirst and Ingrid Virstürm, were some of the largest landowners in Kodiak. In 622, Tobias attended school at the Ryykburgh Academy, a private university, and received a degree in Political Science. It was here that Tobias had found an appreciation for law and attended Ryykburgh Law School in 626. He was made an editor for the school's law review during his attendance.
Tobias started off his legal career working for Howard & Finch P.C. a law practice outside of the capital. Vikstein
Founding
Vikstein was originally named Virsturm in the year 876. It was founded by the noble house Heirst who found the defensive terrain and natural resources of the area to their liking. The Heirst Family was granted the area by the prominent lords of Fanbürger, who found the region too difficult to maintain due to its mountainous and rugged terrain.
It was here that the Heirst patriarch and Lord, Vir, founded the capital city of Virut in a valley between the mountains. Notably this capital was mostly a defensive keep built to keep order to the area. In 887 the keep was completed and the fiefdom was established as an autonomous zone under Fanbürgian rule. Vir named this region as Vikstein, after his son Viker.
The Age of Occupation
Years passed and the Fanbürgians kept rule over the area Vikstein, whose culture had shifted and adopted new and different traditions. More noble houses would take the mantle as protector over this region and eventually the first local noble house of Regburg, Johannes, would take the reigns as protector over the fiefdom.
The Age of Occupation originated in 1325, as the nation of Fanburg would disproportionally use citizens from the region of Vikstein in frontline combat, in a 20 year long war, known as the Fanbürg- Rykkland Punitive War.
Vikstein found itself in a terrible position and was now in a tumultuous time, due to famine, war and an ever growing desire of independence. This desire would grow into a long revolt, lead by house Regburg in which the Vikan had no hope of winning.
Fortunately, shrewd diplomacy, defensive terrain, outside aid, and the pressure overtaking Fanbürg due to the long conflict, led the Vikans to victory in independence in 1350.
The Age of Peace
Vikstein would find itself as an independent nation located between the many powers of its region The Kodiak Republic. The area, too difficult to invade, and protected by its strong alliances, allowed Vikstein to prosper in an age of peace, which is ongoing to this day. The area has grown significantly, and while the famous house Regburg no longer rules, the nation has found itself capable nobles to take up the mantle and lead the nation to its golden era. The 10th noble house to rule Vikstein is the Vanstürm Family, may their rule be long and prosperous.
