Former CFO of Shadbolt's Grooming Products
Former Chair of the Sjokalade Facial Hair Association
Before politics
Grant Leen-Brant Shadbolt was born in 592 in Astroburg, one of many scions to the Shadbolt grooming product empire. When he was 12 years old, he moved with his parents to Crystal City, where his father was to set up the Sjokalade branch of Shadbolt's, which he performed with great success, becoming the head of Shadbolt's Sjokalade. Shadbolt attended Crystal City University, where he gained a Master's in Economic Management. This degree propelled him through the ranks of the Shadbolt's firm, where he eventually became the Chief Financial Officer.
As CFO, Shadbolt utilised a combination of aggressive pricing strategies and surveillance of competitors to give the company market dominance in the men's hair grooming product across Kodiak. While some claim that his strategies included unethical business practises, including industrial spying, Shadbolt has consistently denied these allegations. Through his lofty position at Shadbolt's, he became the Chair of the Sjokalade Facial Hair Association, a round-table for those involved in both having and maintaining facial hair in the Sjokalade province. When Shadbolt's son became the Head of Manufacturing at Shadbolt's, Shadbolt felt he had done his duty to the family firm, and retired to pursue a career in politics. Using the connections he had formed through the Sjokalade Facial Hair Association to become known as a vocal advocate for Crystal City.
Political history
His name recognition caused him to become the Centrist Kodiak Alliance candidate for Crystal City West in the 654 General Election, where he was elected to the General Assembly. In the 656 Centrist Kodiak Alliance Secretary Election, Shadbolt was elected as the new leader of the CKA, replacing the long-serving leader Immanuel von Zeppelin, who had led the party since 653. Upon election, Shadbolt swiftly moved to fix loopholes in the election section of the party's charter, and later proceeded to support the creation of a new logo for the party. In the lead-up to the 657 Kodiak General Election, he represented the party in the All-Party Conference, which allowed him to secure two cabinet positions for the CKA when the Conference won the election.
However, the CKA was dissolved in 658 following a mutual agreement of the party's unfeasibility given the presence of the other, much larger parties. Shadbolt, now acutely aware of his precarious position without a political party backing him, began to redouble his efforts to associate with the Western Crystal City secession movement in an attempt to shore up his political standing. In a somewhat shocking upset, Shadbolt lost reelection in 660 to Liam Harrison, a member of the Kodiak Workers' Party who ran on a platform of unity and workers' rights.
After politics
After his defeat, Shadbolt returned to the Sjokalade facial hair scene, renewing his membership of the Association as there was no longer a risk of a conflict of interest. He was also a staple of Crystal City business conventions, which he attended accompanied by his wife, as well as one of his three children, when they visited. He was also well-known for his love of rivercraft, and spent much of his spare time on his longboat sailing around the rivers and lakes of southern Sjokalade. It was this activity which he was engaged in when he suffered a heart attack and passed away on the 13th of April 667.

Former General Secretary of the Crystal City Technological Trade Union
Before politics
Liam Harrison was born in 628 in Crystal City, to a tech entrepreneur and a union lawyer. This environment swiftly drove Harrison into the Crystal City Technological Trade Union, where he rose to become the General Secretary. While there, he participated in a strike for a colleague who was injured at work, with the company refusing to give him compensation. He also conducted dialogue with several overseas groups, including organs of the Workers' International and unions in Sparkalia.

666–669 | 13th | Crystal City West | Kodiak Workers' | ||
669–672 | 14th | Crystal City West | Kodiak Workers' |
Harrison's success in this strike drew the attention of the Kodiak Workers' Party, and combined with the vulnerable position and perceived eccentricities of the incumbent MGA, Grant Shadbolt, they nominated Harrison as their candidate for Crystal City West in the 660 General Election, which he won.
In 667, with the dissolution of the Maltravers Administration, the Chancellor-elect Jack Williams approached the Kodiak Workers' Party to form a coalition government, and Harrison was nominated as the Minister for Social Services. In the confirmation vote, Harrison cast the deciding vote rejecting it, in line with his stated position, "[T]he Assembly should get a chance to examine and question all prospective cabinet members[.]" However, the cabinet was later confirmed with a replaced Minister of Defence & Foreign Affairs, and Harrison began his cabinet service.
While Minister of Social Services, Harrison kept a mostly low profile, collecting data from the Public Service on homelessness, unemployment, and wounded veteran numbers following the Civil War. In the 669 General Election, he was approached by Chancellor-elect Felix Hurst to continue his role as Minister of Social Services, becoming the only person from the previous administration to continue in the Cabinet.
Foreign postings
In the 672 General Election, held in the aftermath of the Civil War, Harrison lost his seat in an upset defeat to Viktor Adler of the People's Socialist Vanguard. Following this, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs took note of his links to international organisations and placed Harrison as ambassador to the Augustin Alliance. Due to this posting, Harrison moved with his family to Bluelight, in the Conch Kingdom, one of the most influential nations in the Alliance.
While there, the sitting Assembly of Nations and United Regions Alliance delegate, Matthew Williams, announced his intent to retire. Noting Harrison's location in a URA member state, he was nominated as Williams' replacement, and began serving in the Assembly of Nations in 673.
North Pacific hostage incident
On 15 June 673, soldiers of the North Pacific broke into Harrison's house and held him hostage. During this time, they masqueraded as the Kodiak Delegate to the Assembly of Nations, removing approval from proposals as if authorised by the Kodiak government. After six days, Harrison was released, and a communique was later delivered to Chancellor Adler explaining the reasons for the North Pacific's actions. The communique revolved around the illiberal values of Covenant Shores, an AoN member, and Kodiak's approval of a resolution from a Covenant Shores national, despite their residence in Sophia. The communique was condemned by the Adler government for offering no compensation or apology for the course of action taken.
