I believe there isn’t much to be said here as the bill speaks for itself. The funding of regional public transportation would massively benefit standard of living and our economy. This bill aims to establish subsidies for regional and school buses as well as build dedicated bus infrastructure.

Alongside railways, this should get us where we need to go nationwise.
Jonn Stevens (DPPK) — 06/01/2023 13:16
Looks great a fine piece of legislation that will work to improve the public transit of Kodiak!

I love this bill, and agree that public transport infrastructure is an important aspect of travel, with bonus environmental factors.

I'm wondering if the following is too restrictive:

4.1 - The buses procured with the subsidies from the NMVS must be powered with a diesel-electric engine.

In the future - better technology may become available that is superior to diesel-electric. I'm guessing the intention here is to make sure the engines are somewhat efficient with hybrid tech. I think it'd be preferable if this wasn't a hard requirement but some kind of minimum standard is legislated instead.

The intention is to not procure vehicles with inefficient engines. I’ll agree to edit it so that buses must have diesel-electric engines as a minimum with ability to procure more efficient engines if they arise.

I would like to amend the corresponding section to the following:

4.1 - The buses procured with the subsidies from the NMVS must be powered with a engine with the minimum fuel efficiency of an average diesel-electric engine or a more efficient alternative.

Busses are always good, and for smaller communities, busses can be as good a transport scheme as trams or light rail traffic. This bill may set the future for advances Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) throughout all of the Kodiak Republic, for the betterment of all our citizens lives.
