@Assembly Member, debate for this resolution is now open. ((Note, it has not been added to a queue because it is not necessarily a thing that is a regular law)) Edmund Marwood [NUP] — 02/15/2024 6:12 PM is there a reason the thread title is "Award the Order of the Phoenix, Third Class" but the resolution just says "Order of the Republic"? Braughn F. G. Kryos OP

Resolution to Award the Order of the Republic

— 02/15/2024 6:13 PM

((I realized that "Order of the Phoenix" is a HP reference)) Edmund Marwood [NUP] — 02/15/2024 6:14 PM i take it then you decided not to go with the Guelderlaand Award Braughn F. G. Kryos OP

— 02/15/2024 6:14 PM

Correct. I decided to make something different Lots of irl nations use the same terminology Edmund Marwood [NUP] — 02/15/2024 6:16 PM I think it is a shame to use the generic over the unique and historical Braughn F. G. Kryos OP

— 02/15/2024 6:17 PM

Well, how many times has said award been given in recent memory? Is the history relevant to enough individuals to make its historicalness worth specifically maintaining? Edmund Marwood [NUP] — 02/15/2024 6:19 PM I think that's a rather dismissive response. The last guelderlaand gave his life rebuilding our republic. Braughn F. G. Kryos OP

— 02/15/2024 6:21 PM

Not dismissive, just wondering what might need to be updated to remain relevant. Edmund Marwood [NUP] — 02/15/2024 6:23 PM I'm all for forging a new path in the seventh republic that is independent to the pressures of the past - but if we're going to abandon a rich history we really shouldn't replace it with a generic one Braughn F. G. Kryos OP

— 02/15/2024 6:24 PM

Do you have a suggestion for another name? I'm very open to suggestions. Edmund Marwood [NUP] — 02/15/2024 6:25 PM I prefer the historical one I suggested before. The Guelderlaands were instrumental to the revolution, and subsequently instrumental to the founding of the 7th republic, to the detriment of their own continued existence. Braughn F. G. Kryos OP

— 02/15/2024 6:25 PM

I will take it under consideration. Are there other suggestions from other members? Jack Williams (DPPK) — 02/15/2024 6:27 PM ((I personally don’t know the history of awards here, but I will say)) I believe this is a good resolution by President Kryos even if the change of name happens. Liam Harrison [KWP] — 02/15/2024 6:38 PM I do believe that the Guelderlaands should be honoured in our nation's awards (( if for no reason other than flavour )), but perhaps a more interesting name could be chosen, like the Guelderlaand Service Medal? Edmund Marwood [NUP] — 02/15/2024 6:46 PM (( the following )) The Historical NS-GP awards we had which we may wish to update for the new mock gov were:

The Kodiak Service Medal only awarded once per RL 12 months only awarded to people at least twice elected head of government must have been in the executive for 12 cumulative months must be exceptionally well respected

The Order of Rykkland service in the regional militia for minimum 1 month service in the executive for at minimum 2 months well respected (comes in 1st, 2nd, or 3rd class) (1st class awarded only once per 4 RL months, 2nd class twice, 3rd class up to 4 times)

The Order of Anitome Community Contributions medal been in the region for at least 5 months actively made a lasting impact on the community culture awarded only once per RL 4 months

The Order of Burncourt has achieved at least 5000 forum posts made a lasting impact on the community culture awarded only once per RL 2 months

Republican Services Medal sent at least 2500 recruitment Telegrams awarded at the pleasure of the Head of State

Great Officer of the Republic Medal served at minimum 2 months in the militia distinguished service awarded at the pleasure of the Head of State

Medal of Distinguished Service awarded to a militia member who has completed at least 15 missions awarded at the pleasure of the Head of State

Foreign Services Medal awarded to a Kodiak dignitary who has served with distinct excellence awarded at the pleasure of the Head of State

Friends of the Kodiak Republic Medal awarded to a foreign national who has performed significant service for the Republic awarded at the pleasure of the Head of State

The Emblem of Longevity been an active player Class three months Class six months Class one year Class two years +may be cumulative eg. 1 two year + 1 six month for 18 months ((--continued--)) now of course, these are not at all directly relevant to the IC mock gov, but I think some are still worth keeping and just need some workshopping My suggestion for Order of Rykkland is to replace it with "the Guelderlaand Award" - three classes Dr Edmund Cosmo Maltravers Jr — 02/15/2024 7:16 PM I support this bill. Paul Mores - (KSA) — 02/15/2024 7:21 PM I support this bill too. No reason not to really Liam Harrison [KWP] — 02/15/2024 7:21 PM Support Edmund Marwood [NUP] — 02/15/2024 7:32 PM My suggestion would be for our IC awards (Guelderlaand award subsumes most of the named orders, but the classes are expanded):

Guelderlaand Award First Class an especially meritorious contribution to the security or national interests of the Kodiak Republic, world peace, cultural or other significant public or private endeavours Second Class performed exemplary deeds or services for his or her country or fellow citizens Third Class distinguished themselves by exceptionally meritorious conduct in the performance of outstanding services to the Republic

Friend of the Kodiak Republic Medal an especially meritorious contribution to the security or national interests of the Kodiak Republic, world peace, cultural or other significant public or private endeavours by a foreign national.

Foreign Service Medal awarded to a Kodiak dignitary who has served with distinct excellence

various military service medals Medal of Honour equivalent (The Golden Phoenix?) Distinguished Service equivalent Silver Star equivalent (Silver Phoenix?) Purple Heart equivalent Unit Citation equivalent

Perhaps some serious legislative reform needs to occur to establish these Edmund Marwood [NUP] — 02/15/2024 8:39 PM I don't know if I'd say 'serious'. A single resolution should so it. Braughn F. G. Kryos OP

— 02/15/2024 8:39 PM

A serious effort, perhaps In which case, I think it might be best to briefly table this legislation until such an act can be passed. Edmund Marwood [NUP] — 02/15/2024 8:43 PM I feel like we could simply juke this discussion into passing a completed resolution since most of the discussion has already begun and then the honour resolution passed alongside Braughn F. G. Kryos OP

— 02/15/2024 8:44 PM

That's also fair, but would it not then need to enter the regular queue, as it would then technically be a law? Edmund Marwood [NUP] — 02/15/2024 8:45 PM It's the codification of an already abstracted convention into the admin affairs title. I don't think it needs to be treated the same way as a new law or specific amendment to the code Braughn F. G. Kryos OP

— 02/15/2024 8:45 PM

In that case, I will work tomorrow on altering the nature of the proposal to fit with a more establishing style Edmund Marwood [NUP] — 02/15/2024 8:51 PM I can probably drum something up assuming the kid stays in bed for her nap Braughn F. G. Kryos OP

— 02/15/2024 8:56 PM

I would be amenable. Time is short for me these days. Neil O'Madow | Nalatia — 02/16/2024 2:04 AM Im quite supportive for the original proposal, yet I guess Ill let it "develop" completely Joanna Sousa KWP (Juliette) — 02/16/2024 3:06 AM I like the suggestion of drawing historical significance into the names. Any seconds? Dr Edmund Cosmo Maltravers Jr — 02/18/2024 11:31 AM I second Edmund Marwood [NUP] — 02/18/2024 4:06 PM Looks good to me Neil O'Madow | Nalatia — 02/18/2024 4:38 PM Im also satisfied with it EasyPoll BOT
