The 648 General Election was held on 14 November 2022, with campaigning beginning on 01 November 2022. Incumbent Chancellor Oskar Luchens (NUP) had gone missing through the 645 term and did not run for re-election. President Patrick Barber (KWP) did seek relection, while also having been ill throughout the majority of the 645 term. Only one candidate declared for the position of Chancellor. John Edwards of the Kodiak Workers' Party (KWP). Chief Justice Martang Eðeltreow lodged his intention to remain midway through the campaign season.
Notable in this election, government participation was approximately half that of previous elections. The government found itself inactive again, similar to the previous Karlsson administration.
The election ran for three days and was certified by the Public Service.

I too shall announce my candidacy for President. I shall eat crow in saying that my illnesses this term have kept me from working to my best ability, but I am confidence that for the next term I shall be able to guide the assembly and its hansard as well as any time before.
Chancellor
John Edwards (KWP)
Members of the Assembly, it is my great honour to announce my intention to run for the Chancellorship. As a long serving member of the KWP and Treasurer for two consecutive governments, I believe that I am well suited to the trials of office and the requirements of the rebuilding efforts that will be coming over the coming months and years. Our great republic is in a state, never before seen by our nation, invasion by our enemies has seen us lose precious territories. The war forced us to spend on death what we could have been spending on the furthering of our great nation. But we have not given up. We will be faced with new challenges, and I am certain that we can rise to meet them as the great people and nation that we are. For Kodiak!
