Very true. In the absence of a debate, I'll open a thread here for questions. Fire away!

Since it is likely there will be no debate this year between chancellory candidates , I want to know what direction you are going to go policy wise. That is, economically, militarily, law and order, infrastructure and transportation, healthcare, welfare, education, and any other miscellaneous policy ideas you may have.
John Edwards [KWP] — 11/11/2022
Economically, I feel we need to continue to work to introduce bills that will improve the national economy, so much legislation improves particular aspects of citizens lives and furthers our moral/ethical obligations to our citizens but we need to look towards improving the nation as a whole. To that end I hope we can pass some legislation to improve wages and other forms so our citizens are able to go out and improve our economy. We would also look at infrastructure projects to improve our economic growth for the future.

Do you believe you may allocate more money to infrastructure during your term in order to repair damage from the TGN invasion?
John Edwards [KWP] — 11/11/2022
Militarily, the personnel conscription proved to be a massive failure in terms of effectiveness, I am looking to transfer our efforts to technology improvements and end conscription.
The invasion has left us with damage to various infrastructure, in rebuilding, I am hoping we can improve on was was in place and build better more resilient systems.
There will need to be assessment of what needs rebuilding/ replacement first before that process can begin however.
I am hoping we can move forward from the invasion and resolve it without further bloodshed. Make no mistake however that I am resolved to recover the Darrent region and negotiations progress with that in mind.
Education will be a focus this term as we work to improve the prospects of Kodiakers and attempt to resolve the educational crisis that has plagued us for too long.

You mentioned conscription. Are you planning to release a lot of enlisted personnel from military duty or are you going to try and find ways to further integrate them into the military?
John Edwards [KWP] — 11/11/2022
I am expecting to retain existing personnel with various incentives and encourage enlistment with incentives rather than forcing them to serve. In this way we will improve morale and ensure more effective service.

As I've discussed my intentions for future development, I would invite the Assembly to now also raise the issues they would like to see addressed during the following term. We can see what is already in the works and what can be incorporated.

In Kodiak, our police have no riot gear and no lethal weapons. As we saw during the riots which have occurred during the last three elections, this has resulted in the needless deaths of dozens of officers and civilians alike, and most recently, caused an easy to prevent insurrection to take place. I would like to see the issue of police unpreparedness and lack of gear addressed.
John Edwards [KWP] — 13/11/2022
I'm not sure that riot gear would have prevented the insurrection or that lethal weapons would have reduced the loss of life. However, the preparedness of the police force is something that can be investigated. The counter terrorism unit will investigate and be investigated to assess the events of the insurrection and determine a course to proceed. On a strictly personal level, I think the issue lies in the disenfranchisement of people in the region that allowed a foreign power to promote an insurrection in the first place. Addressing the many issues plaguing our nation and improving the lives of Kodiak citizens will, in my opinion, go further to prevent future incidents than simply putting more money into suppression.
I will also be investigating why, with already significant funding, the police force have no riot gear. That would appear to be a massive oversight that needs to be addressed.
