Veteran Affairs Act, 667

An act to provide health and benefits for veterans of the armed services of Kodiak.

Article 1 - Creation of the Department of Veteran Affairs

1.1 - Department of Veteran Affairs will be created under the supervision of the Ministry of Defense.

1.2 - Its purpose is to provide support and lifelong healthcare to eligible military veterans.

1.3 - Non-healthcare benefits will contain the following:

  • Disability Compensation
  • Vocational Rehabilitation
  • Education Assistance
  • Home Loans
  • Life Insurance
  • Burial and Memorial Benefits

1.4 - Funding will come from the defense and healthcare funds.

Article 2 -Administration and Eligibility

2.1 - The creation of three additional administrations to cover each aspect of veteran affairs.

  • 2.1.1 - Veterans Health Administration (VHA) - responsible for providing healthcare in all its forms as well as biomedical research.
  • 2.1.2 - Veterans Benefits Administration (VBA) - responsible for initial veteran registration, eligibility determination, and non-healthcare benefits.
  • 2.1.3 - National Cemetery Administration - responsible for providing burial and memorial benefits, as well as maintenance of VA cemeteries.

2.2 - Eligibility will be determined by meeting both requirements:

  • You have a current illness or injury (condition) that affects your mind or body, and
  • You served on active duty, active duty for training, or inactive duty training.
