The Kodiak Workers' Party finds itself once again at the helm of a collapsing state. The War in the Darrent will be at the front of mind for Chancellor Edwards. Let us not forget our obligations domestically. The economy is struggling to perform any task beyond barely supporting the machines of war. State Spending is lost and often uncounted, and refugees are being counted twice or sometimes three times as they seek out support payments. The frontlines have stopped and there are rumours the Northern Kingdom economy is collapsing. I guess they just aren't used to it like we are. The biggest question will be, if we do find the way to the end of the war, how will we return to solving the domestic issues? Good luck, Mr. Edwards. I think you're going to need it.

The National Budget

Public Secretary's Summary - The national budget has, for the most part, remained steady throughout the Luchens government, but this is reflective more of the fact that the cost of the war is not yet really knowable. We can expect that the deficit is considerably higher than the public service can currently report, but so far as domestic decisions go, the numbers presented here should suffice for the next term of government. GDP remains abysmal and the economic situation is dire. Raising taxes are unlikely to solve the revenue shortfalls expected. Policy change will be necessary to rebuild consumer confidence and international trade. If that's even possible.

The National Debt

The National Debt stands at approximately ₣ 307.11 Billion with a Debt/GDP ratio of 39%.
Our predicted Deficit this year stands at approximately ₣ 18.55 Billion.
This will increase the National Debt to approximately ₣ 325.66 billion.
Our Sovereign Credit rating has been assessed by the World Bank as AAA.
Interest on the debt assessed at 1.70% and is expected to cost ₣ 5.24 Billion which represents 4.6% of annual expenditure.

The Political Situation

Public Secretary's Summary - The sudden illness of Chancellor Luchens part way through the Darrent Crisis has left the nation in the lurch. While the government has made moderate progress on Crime and Alcohol Abuse, the economy is beginning to collapse against the competing needs of domestic demand and military expenditure. The control of the state by the central administration has chaffed the public service considerably and the stalemate of the war drains economic resources day by day. The Edwards government will struggle to prioritise any domestic crisis for so long as the war rages. Perhaps Chancellor Edwards can finally obtain commitments from our international partners?

Demographic Concerns

Public Secretary's Summary - The population has grown by approximately 11 percent. Whether this is due to an undercount last term or an over-count this term is unknown. The complications about counting those who live in the Darrent region are likely to blame. Its likely people have been counted twice. We will know by the end of the next census. Notably, there has been a massive increase in Retirees and the Middle Class. It can be presumed many of these new Middle Class are families of soldiers and defence manufacturing employees.
