Preamble

Recognizing the importance of preserving cultural heritage and advancing scientific knowledge through archaeology, the Kodiak Republic hereby establishes the Boosting Opportunities for Notable Excavation Services (BONES) Act to promote voluntary cooperation, property rights, and market-driven solutions in archaeological endeavors.

Article 1: Definition of Archaeology

1.1 Archaeology shall be defined as the scientific study of human history and prehistory through the excavation and analysis of artifacts, structures, and other physical remains.

1.2 Archaeological activities include, but are not limited to:

• Excavation of historical and prehistorical sites.
• Analysis and preservation of discovered artifacts.
• Research and documentation of findings.
• Public dissemination of knowledge through publications and exhibitions.
• Accidental discoveries during grand adventures and harebrained escapades.

Article 2: Protection of Property Rights

2.1 All archaeological findings are the property of the organization which discovers items and retain full rights over their land and any archaeological discoveries made therein.

2.2 Ethical practices must be made in the handling and preservation of archaeological finds, respecting the rights of all parties involved.

Article 3: Private Funding

3.1 Private investment in archaeological research and preservation through tax incentives and other voluntary mechanisms will be formed.

3.2 Establish the "Bones' Bounty Fund" for quirky and unexpected finds, offering rewards for the most unusual and entertaining discoveries.

• A total of 2,000,000 Florins to be allocated towards such discoveries.

Article 4: Creation of the Kodiak Archaeology Society

4.1 Creates the Kodiak Archaeology Society as a quasi-governmental authority which oversees all archaeologists and their finds.

4.2 Supports the development of voluntary standards and best practices in archaeology through industry collaboration and expert consultation.

• Encourage adherence to these standards without imposing mandatory regulations or bureaucratic oversight.

4.3 Encourage private entities, academic institutions, and independent researchers to collaborate voluntarily on archaeological projects.

4.4 Acknowledge the potential for mishaps and encourage problem-solving in the field.

4.5 Provide guidance on handling unexpected discoveries, such as cursed artifacts or ancient booby traps.

4.6 Embrace the adventurous spirit of independent archaeologists, encouraging creativity and spontaneity in research endeavors.

Article 5: Discreet Funding Provision

5.1 Allocate funding in Florins for archaeological expeditions, including specific provisions for the discovery and study of significant relics and artifacts.

5.2 Ensure that this funding is integrated seamlessly into broader archaeological initiatives, maintaining discretion and minimizing bureaucratic involvement.

5.3 Funding should be totaled to 1,000,000 Florins annually towards discreet funding.

Article 6: Expedition Naming

6.1 Expeditions should ideally reflect the cultural heritage or historical significance of the discoveries, while also capturing the imagination and curiosity of the public.

6.2 Encouragement is given to adopt creative and memorable names for expeditions, such as:

• The Quest for the Lost "Relic"
• The Search for the Golden "Artifact"
• The Hunt for the Enchanted "Object"
• The Expedition for the Ancient "Mystery"
• The Journey for the Legendary "Treasure"
