@Assembly Member Debate is open for this bill. @Joseph Fala, DPPK You have the floor. Joseph Fala, DPPK — 01/05/2024 08:59 Thank you Mr. President!
This bill is my amendment to the Tax Reform Resolution 666 and allows a further 5% tax break for Small Businesses like mom and pop shops and Employee-Owned Businesses like Engineering Firms or Grocery chains.
Kodiak needs to encourage more growth of small business development and employee owned development as well. Its Small Businesses that bring new ideas to the floor our our society and allow innovation into our economy.
Employee owned buesnesses are also very crucial to our economy. They tend to bring out higher quality products because the people who make it actually care for what they do. People who work for Employee Owned businesses tend to be paid higher and are better for our economy as there is more income to be used by all of us and not just the government but our economy as well.
So lets give them an extra tax break and grow more of our smaller startups. Thank you and I look forward to your questions! Coleman Ryle — 01/05/2024 12:06 For reference, the corporation tax for large businesses is 25%. R. Henry Welch, III [NUP] — 01/05/2024 12:20 I'm confused why this is a standalone bill and not an amendment to the Enterprise act also, in 1.1 "generates a profit equal to or exceeding 10,000 Florins annually." the definition of small business is 100 employees or less and infinite profit? Joseph Fala, DPPK — 01/05/2024 12:21 Thats a typo on my part Joseph Fala, DPPK — 01/05/2024 12:23 This was an amendment to your tax reforms not the Enterprise act R. Henry Welch, III [NUP] — 01/05/2024 12:23 but it doesn't say that anywhere it also doesn't amend anything. Like, it doesn't locate any of the articles within the enterprise tax act, it doesn't signpost what is being amended in the original - whesre does this law go within the code? Joseph Fala, DPPK — 01/05/2024 12:25 ((I never knew the Enterprise Act Even Existed)) R. Henry Welch, III [NUP] — 01/05/2024 12:25 ((other than it being in the law code - its hyperlinked in my resolution which you say this is meant to amend)) Image Joseph Fala, DPPK — 01/05/2024 12:27 ((Um... yeah, I can't edit all of that in)) Ok I made the amendments R. Henry Welch, III [NUP] — 01/05/2024 12:33 have you looked at the enterprise tax act to make sure it actually works like that? Joseph Fala, DPPK — 01/05/2024 12:36 This bill add definitions and I don't think that works with that bill Jack Williams (DPPK) OP
— 01/05/2024 12:37
Did you make these amendments to your word document or the wiki? Joseph Fala, DPPK — 01/05/2024 12:37 in the wiki R. Henry Welch, III [NUP] — 01/05/2024 12:37 Your definitions should probably be made as amendment to the Kodiak Revenue Directorate Act, and the small business and cooperative tax changes as an amendment to the enterprise tax act you'll want to read the acts to make sure you place then in a logical part of the existing law Joseph Fala, DPPK — 01/05/2024 12:39 This is why we write separate bills Mr Welch. We may not know what goes where R. Henry Welch, III [NUP] — 01/05/2024 12:39 But I just helped you to know where it goes you can read it María Sanz-Cortés [NUP] — 01/05/2024 19:56 Your work is to at least read and understand what goes where. Joseph Fala, DPPK — 01/05/2024 22:36 Not everyone has the time to read every single law in the books. María Sanz-Cortés [NUP] — 01/05/2024 22:45 So you mean you don't even research the laws or look for information surrounding them when making bills, because "not everyone has the time"? Joseph Fala, DPPK — 01/05/2024 22:46 There is some research involved but I didn't think any laws needed to be amended María Sanz-Cortés [NUP] — 01/05/2024 22:56 If you're changing the tax rate, you're making an amendment, it's not like you're establishing a new tax. Joseph Fala, DPPK — 01/05/2024 22:57 There is no wrong way to write a bill. It doesn't matter anyway. I made the edits so it amends there repected bills J.F. Sassoon — 02/05/2024 23:40 I motion to vote R. Henry Welch, III [NUP] — 02/05/2024 23:41 I object Jack Williams (DPPK) OP
— 02/05/2024 23:41
I object. We haven’t even gotten past the three day threshold R. Henry Welch, III [NUP] — 02/05/2024 23:41 this private members' bill is not adequately created so as to be enforceable within the existing frameworks Jack Williams (DPPK) OP
— 02/05/2024 23:43
Also that. I believe Mr. Fala has some amendments Joseph Fala, DPPK — 02/05/2024 23:45 I made my amendments, but is there anything I'm missing? Jack Williams (DPPK) OP
— 02/05/2024 23:45
@R. Henry Welch, III [NUP] R. Henry Welch, III [NUP] — 02/05/2024 23:47 Yes, Articles 3 and 4 are currently hanging. You've sent Article 1 to the revenue directory act, and article 2 to the enterprise tax act. But three and four die on the floor when passed Joseph Fala, DPPK — 02/05/2024 23:48 ((I have D&D tonight and I won't be able to do it now)) Jack Williams (DPPK) OP
— 04/05/2024 01:36
@Joseph Fala, DPPK @R. Henry Welch, III [NUP] I think there are some changes that need to be made right? ((😂)) Joseph Fala, DPPK — 04/05/2024 01:41 We need to tie the rest of the articles to other laws calling into office to answer your question Jack Williams (DPPK) OP
— 04/05/2024 01:44
thank you Joe. hangs up phone J.F. Sassoon — 05/05/2024 06:57 I motion to vote as this debate has, frankly, perished. Joseph Fala, DPPK — 05/05/2024 07:00 I would like the chance ro make my final edits before we vote Jack Williams (DPPK) OP
— 05/05/2024 07:01
Need to finish them soon Jack Williams (DPPK) OP
— 05/05/2024 07:02
Until the Sponsor makes the proper changes, he’s supposed to be making, I’ll hold off on a vote for now J.F. Sassoon — 05/05/2024 07:05 My apologies, Mr President, I was unaware of such necessities. Jack Williams (DPPK) OP
— 05/05/2024 21:46

Joseph Fala, DPPK — 05/05/2024 23:40 I will be making the changes soon, just need to figure out what laws to tie those articles too Joseph Fala, DPPK — 06/05/2024 01:25 I just made my changes on the bill @Assembly President J.F. Sassoon — 06/05/2024 01:26 I shall motion to vote, if permitted. Jack Williams (DPPK) OP
