Early Life

Felix Theodore Hurst was born on October 30 623 in the hamlet of Grimzen to Philip (born 598) and Madeline (597 - 672) Hurst. His parents were farmers who owned a small agricultural property in Grimzen. Hurst's maternal grandfather had been Mayor of Woolwich Borough. Hurst was educated at Leopold Gustav Memorial Public School in Slaughterham. Hurst received a scholarship to Lobenz University to study Political Science and Modern History.

Due to his family's relative poverty, Hurst worked many odd jobs throughout his early life, including as a fry cook and postal clerk.

Military Service

Hurst enlisted in the Navy in 645 after the declaration of war against The Great North. He was placed on the KNS Rykkburgh of the 1st Frigate Squadron as an able seaman, seeing action against Great North ships. Hurst achieved his final rank of Lieutenant of the 2nd Rate in 651. Hurst was discharged from the navy in 652.

Political Career

After his retirement from the navy, Hurst entered the Public Service working under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

In June 659, Hurst was selected as Ambassador to Cobrastan. He oversaw the formation of Rykkburgh-Bestburg relations. Hurst resigned from his post in May 661.

Hurst ran as the NUP's candidate for Antillea in 666, after incumbent Bill Simmons announced he would not seek a fifth term. He won the seat with 68% of the vote. This was a notable drop from previous runs under Simmons and Furey, suggesting a lack of confidence in the NUP.

Chancellor Maltravers appointed Hurst as Minister for Defence, Immigration and Foreign Affairs in 666. He vowed to crack down on the Commune in Seathania and their foreign supporters in the People's Republic of Wintercrest.

In early 666, Hurst approved the integration of the Kodiak National Front in the Army's strategy against Commune.

In 667, Hurst became Acting Chancellor as Chancellor Maltravers resigned over a vote of no confidence. He was left with in a tough situation, as the KWP and DPPK called for his resignation and demanded a swift negotiated end to the war.

Hurst lost the Vote of No Confidence and was replaced by then President Jack Williams. Hurst formed a shadow cabinet in June 667, with himself as Leader of the Opposition.

In 669, Hurst was nominated as the National Unity Party’s candidate for Chancellor. He entered an alliance with S.H.R.I.M.P.’s candidate, Antonio Rucio Rufian. After a close election against KWP candidate Braughn Kryos, Hurst formed a minority government with SHRIMP.

Hurst led efforts to expand Kodiak's diplomatic standing. Minister of Foreign Affairs, Bernard Glocke, was dispatched to the People's Republic of Wintercrest to address the nation's alleged involvement in the Civil War. A join investigation was set up as a result of the visit. Later, three Kodiak Navy corvettes arrived in Thegye to combat rampant piracy along the country's coast.

In 670, Hurst presented the National Helpline Service Act to establish a Centre for Mental Health and establish phone helplines and was passed 20:2 in 671.

It was in 671 that Hurst announced his intent to not run for a second term. In December 671, just days before the General Election, documents from the State Bureau of Investigations were leaked, connecting Hurst to a plot to assassinate his old political rival Jack Williams. Subsequently, Hurst disappeared and escaped capture by the authorities. A Vote of No Confidence was motioned for by Braughn Kryos which passed after the election of 672.

In December of 672, Hurst was located in an isolated rural community in the nation of Avaldonia and was extradited to Kodiak to await trial. He was sentenced to ten years in prison in May 673 for attempted assassination and abuse of public office. However, he was released in January 680, after six years and 8 months served due to good behaviour.

Personal Life and Family

Hurst married Greta Boucher (born 622) on July 17 649 in San Chico. They had met in late 646, when Hurst was on leave in the city. Together they had one daughter, Esther in 653. When Hurst fled to Avaldonia in 671, Greta filed for divorce in absentee which she successfully won in 672. As part of the settlement, Greta won complete custody over Esther. Greta remarried Fjord Montgomery II in 673.

Hurst grew up Methodist, but has since stated he is not religious.

From an early age, Hurst has taken a keen interest in history and conservation. He became a president of the Antillea Historical Society and a member of the National Heritage Institute. Hurst is a numismatist, with a large collection of foreign coins.

Hurst is known to not be able to take alcohol well, with him frequently getting drunk in the Assembly. Despite this, he kept stores of whiskey and spirits in his office.
